| Rob Reiner has directed some of the most popular and
influential motion pictures of the past two decades, while deftly moving among many styles.
He has created films which win both audience enthusiasm and critical acclaim.
Castle Rock recently released Reiner's lastest film, "The Story of Us,"
starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Bruce Willis. The versatile filmmaker has been immersed in the entertainment business for much of his life, succeeding first as an actor then as a director and producer. He acted in many television and feature productions (including his Emmy-winning work as a star of the long-running hit television series "All in the Family") before finding immediate success as a director with the acclaimed "rockumentary" comedy "This is Spinal Tap" in 1984. He followed with the road comedy "The Sure Thing" and the adaptation of Stephen King's youth adventure "Stand By Me," the latter film bringing him his first nomination as Best Director from the Directors Guild of America. Reiner has had a succession of boxoffice hits, which include "When Harry Met Sally..." (DGA nomination as Best Director), "Misery" (Kathy Bates won an Academy Award as Best Actress), "A Few Good Men" (DGA nomination as well as four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture), "The American President" (five Golden Globe nominations including Best Picture/ Musical or Comedy), and "Ghosts of Mississippi" (two Academy Award nominations) and most recently, "The Story of Us" starring Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer. In addition to filmmaking, Reiner was instrumental in initiating the White House conference on early-childhood development. He also produced a television special on early childhood, and launched the "I Am Your Child" national awareness and engagement campaign to emphasize the need for quality early-childhood development programs. Additionally, he has chaired the California Children and Families Initiative in an effort to improve early childhood programs in California and to raise national consciousness about early childhood issues. |
